My 15 year old son and I were in a car accident last night. I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later considering 95% of the people in the Phoenix area suck at driving! It was the typical situation, young guy on his cell phone running into the girl in front of him and slamming her into me. He said he was calling his mom to let her know he’d be late for dinner. Call her at a red light!
I kept my cool because of reading mksactown’s story just the day before about her husband getting into his accident. I will admit my first response before I got out of the car was “YOU GOTTA BE FREAKING KIDDING ME!” but by the time I got out of the car, all of you lovely ladies were speaking to me in my head. Your wonderful replies to mksactown about how things are just meant to happen & material things are just that…etc. really put things into perspective for me. The young boy felt really bad & I was actually able to look him in the eye & tell him not to worry about it. I found myself telling him it was just meant to happen! I couldn’t believe I didn’t want to rip his head off! So thank you to all of you wise women!
My son’s neck is sore & mine also. I already have 3 bulging discs from a car accident 12 years ago and hope they will not be giving me too much of a problem! I would appreciate your prayers especially for my son Fabian. He is too young to start having disk problems in his neck! I hope it is just sore muscles. If he wakes up this morning still sore I am taking him to the doctor. He did not tell me that his neck was bothering him until we got back home last night. I think he was trying to not make me worry!
I’m glad you are both okay…. and YEAH for you in restraining yourself yesterday… Yowsa! I hope both you and your son’s back pains heal quickly…
I am glad to hear that you and your son are safe!! Your son will be fine don’t worry, as long as he is active and stretches his pain will go away.
OMG, Cheryl, I’m so sorry for you both. My husband is still sore as well. His back is bothering him and his neck was sore this morning…not too sore, but sore none the less. He is going to go to the doctor if it feels any worse. I was told by a few people that sometimes you don’t really feel it until a couple days or even weeks from the accident. I hope your son is just a little sore and that’s all. God Bless you both….and, yes, the material things don’t matter…the people we love do.
I am glad you are OK. There has to be something done to end the cell phone madness. I’m an avid Blackberry woman…but I rarely drive / talk and if so, use a bluetooth.
I was in a huge accident last year. I’ve endured 3 surgeries, one this week, and more. The list is lengthy and my life has changed completely.
I am so glad you are doing ok…it shakes you up. People are careless. Your son will be OK…keep him moving.
Best to you.

Did you go get checked out? Whiplash can occur days after, you must go get checked right away.

Thank you ladies! My son just woke up and says that his neck was a little stiff but feels better when he moves it around. So I do believe it is just his muscles because if it was a disc problem it would be the opposite. I haven’t taken us to get checked out because when I got in my accident 12 years ago, all they did was take an xray and say that nothing was broken and sent me home. I will take my son though if it keeps bothering him just in case. I have been to therapy twice in the past and have started the exercises that they taught me to keep my discs inline. I am so stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor myself! Thank you again for your comments! I have to call the insurance agency now. I need a new back end! Thank god he had insurance!
Glad you are doing ok and that nothing worse happened. We will keep you in our prayers and think good thoughts for you and your son.
Mksactown: I’m so sorry to hear about your husbands accident (I’ve been away a couple of days).
CherylPhillps: I feel for you going through so many surgeries. I wish you all a speedy recovery!
I’m a blackberry gal too, but do not use the phone in my car unless I have my handsfree – bluetooth on. Yeah for California passing a law recently that for over 18 you Must use a handsfree device when on the phone in a moving vehicle. It’s a first offense meaning they can pull you over for it. Under 18, no using a phone while driving period! Hands free or not.
I agree with Cindylouwho – get your necks checked out by your MD. or a Chiropractor.

Luvin40, glad to hear you guys are doing fine. The cellphone dialing and texting while driving is way out of control. Yes, please get checked out, if only for insurance purposes, 72 hour time limit on getting your visit covered at 100%.
Mksactown: So sorry to hear about your husband, pray he is doing better.
Cheryl, awh, so sorry to hear about your injuries…keep up the faith.
