My parents are driving down from Los Angeles to meet their new
“grandson” Stoli.

I was telling my mom that they have really slacked off as grandparents, because when my kids were born they were at our house 24/7, and now that I have this sweet puppy (who is just like my baby), they haven’t even met him! So, full of guilt they’ve been in the traffic for the last three hours driving down to see him.
Both of them think I’m nuts…and lost all of my marbles. Truth be known, that happened long before Stoli came into my life.
I started cooking early this morning. Since food is a big part of our Russian culture we like to eat often and a lot. My son announced that he is not going out tonight, because the food looks too good to pass on.
While waiting for Cindylou's Candles
to arrive I needed to come up with another idea for a fresh smell. Contemplating for a few minutes, I decided that Banana Cake would be just what I needed.
I just made this cake yesterday but it’s all gone by now. So as I prepared all of the ingredients I never doubted that the recipe is fresh in my mind. As I poured the batter into the pan I thought to myself….hmm I remembered everything, right? Knowing better than to ignore my inner voice, I pulled up the recipe and checked my ingredients. I sure did forget something….but what do you think I forgot? No, it wasn’t the flower, or the butter, or the sugar, or the eggs, it was the bananas. Someone please tell me how do you forget to put bananas in a banana cake?
Grateful that I was able to correct my mistake in time, my home now smells of cookies.

While I’m sure the dinner will be great, highlight of the dinner will be dessert,

Enjoy your weekend with the family.
Cake looks delicious, chocolate, my weakness, even better. Not much of a animal lover, but he is a cutie.

Yana,
What a nice evening you have planned! Good food including a divine cake, great company, AND STOLI~!!!
Stoli has gotten even cuter if that is possible. And I think that this is my favorite picture of YOU! You look so pretty!
I hope Stoli will enjoy finally meeting his grandparents….
it's so sad that it has taken so long. Hee Hee
Give Stoli some “sugars” from me.
I just realize I am drooling!

The food is all well and good but I LOVE the fact that you named your puppy after a Russian Vodka! My favorite as a matter of fact.
family is great. Yummmmmmy cake…and I want to kiss that puppy! SO cute!!
I love home nights. Tonite Mr Handsome will come over around 5ish and help me get dinner together. Big dinners are huge around here and he’s an awesome helper. I call him my wife sometimes. ha ha The kids will play, we’ll all eat and have a blast…maybe play a game and settle in for a movie. Sort of corny, but WE LOVE IT!

Yana – I’ll be right over! Oh, um, too late.
To me there is nothing like being with family. Afterall, that’s what life’s about! I’m not talking about the parts of the family you don’t like of course, but those you do.
And please post some of those yummy Russian recipes!

My husband would fall in love with you! The only baking I’ve ever done consists of frozen cookies & anything else that’s pre-made. He’s so neglected!
Yana,
Have fun with Stoli, the great grandparents and the food. Oh, I have to say-one time I made my own fabulously famous biscotti for my dad-mind you the recipe is named Rosemary-Pepper Biscotti-I forgot (almost) to add both the rosemary and the pepper!
I blame the kids, both furry and clean-shaven for the loss of our minds.
I am soooo allergic to cats and dogs. Stoli I think I would take a chance to be around. So cute!
OMG Yana! I couldn’t even read your post after I saw the cake and then the chocolate..I just sat here staring and salivating.
