A Twilighter Moms take on the movie

Forgive me for any type-0’s or mis-spellings, as my brain is still trying to catch up and wake-up!!  Last night I went to the midnight showing of the movie Twilight with my 17 yr old daughter.  It was Kaila(daughter) that first insisted that I read the book.  I resisted for the longest time for reasons i still yet dont know, it was written for teenage girls, it was about vampires not sure how i felt about that.  My daughter Kaila is a girl who does not give up so finally….. I read the book and it was awesome, but i think it took the seeing the movie for me to get the full scope of it.  I have the greatest respect toward the author Stephenie Meyer, she in this day and age put out a book with no swearing, no sex, no drugs and it is a block busting best seller.  It is so romantic that you cant help to fall in love with Edward and want to be Bella. It show’s the young girls that you can fall in love with out giving up your body, and that it can make you feel good to be treated like a lady.  It also taught that you can have fun with out drugs and alochol, that having a clear mind is a good thing.  And here is the thing, listening to most of the girls talk about it they love the fact that all of that junk is missing.  Stephenie Meyer has inspired many girls my daughter included to respect their body, for that I am so thankful!  The book also brought girls together they love to discuss the book, and were so excited about the movie.  So…  The movie was awesome and the mother daughter time priceless, as this is the baby of my 3 and she graduates this year, and for any and all of you that have been there you know they get busy after they graduate.  So in closing , if you have a daughter that has read the book  read it!  It will create a great bond for you.  If you dont have a daughter but want to read a classic love story I promise you will not be disapointed!!!!!!

    • Thank you for your comments on this film. I am a youth worker for a church and there have been many questions about this book/movie. I think the message of respecting your body and self is so much more important than the vampire issue.

    • tammiejo, we are a christian family and the vampire’s are not like what we are used to in books and movies.  The author has a mormon background.  I think sometimes we (christians)can just way too “hungup” on things you know?
